Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge
Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge is a national wildlife refuge in the Texas Hill Country northwest of Austin. Established in the 1990’s, this refuge was designed to protect habitat for two endangered songbirds: the golden-cheeked warbler and the black-capped vireo. It also protects Texas Hill Country habitat for many other species of wildlife. Wildlife viewing and nature trails, hunting, and special events are available at Balcones Canyonlands.
